Alex Rydberg, M.A.

About Alex

Alex has worked in a variety of settings with children, adolescents, and young adults, including community mental health, private practice, and university counseling centers. Alex enjoys working with children and adolescents with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, substance use concerns, emotion dysregulation, and behavioral challenges. Alex has primarily engaged in individual and family therapy, with some group therapy in a private practice setting. He has previously conducted assessments with college students in Xavier’s Psychological Services Center to assist in determining academic accommodations and supports, as well as engaged as a co-facilitator in Xavier’s ADHD skills groups. He is currently working at Xavier’s Psychological Services Center performing intakes and engaging in individual therapy with college students with a range of experiences, including anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, interpersonal challenges, and emotion dysregulation.

Alex is interested in practicing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and uses a client-centered approach in the therapy room, focusing on the experiences of the individual and viewing therapy as a collaborative process to help clients find meaning and fulfillment in their lives.


Alex earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Philosophy, from Butler University. He received his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Xavier University, where he is currently a doctoral candidate in Xavier’s Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program. Alex’s current research involves religious and spiritual coping/support for men and boys who have experienced a traumatic event.


As a 4th year Doctoral student in Xavier University's Psy.D. program, Alex is working under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Ossege and Dr. Brooke McGarry while at Viewpoint through summer of 2027.
